Felixer Weiher/Lake Tret: Family Hike on Deutschnonsberg/in Alta Val di Non

Flowering meadows in spring, a marvellously refreshing lake in summer, golden larch-dotted meadows in autumn, silence and serenity in winter. Felixer Weiher/Lake Tret is situated 1600 metres above sea level and can be reached via a short walk from St. Felix/San Felice or via the village of Tret in Italian-speaking Trentino. The lake is a popular bathing destination for families owing to the biodiversity of aquatic plants and insects (dragonflies) as well as the spectacular water quality. A circular walk around the lake is dotted with panels which provide information on the species in this biotope.
The lake has a small island in the middle; the surrounding landscape is attractive in any season, particularly from the end of May, when the mountain spring bursts into full splendour. In spring we hike through colourful flowering meadows alive with enchanting and varied flora (wild orchids, gentian, wild lilies, anemones, Turk’s cap lilies, lily of the valley, etc.). The cool waters of the lake are welcomingly refreshing on hot summer days; in autumn the larch-dotted meadows glow golden yellow and give us more light for the shorter days. And even in winter, when the alpine plateau is covered with snow, this avalanche-free region is worth exploring on snowshoes or touring skis.
