Spronser Lakes/Laghi di Sopranes – 10 Pearls in the Heart of a Nature Park

The Spronser Lakes lie on a plateau in the eastern section of the Naturpark Texelgruppe/Parco Naturale Gruppo di Tessa, the largest of the seven  nature parks in South Tyrol. The motto of the park was aptly chosen: “Vom Wasser und vom Licht” (From Water and from Light). This challenging alpine hike journeys into the heart of the Texelgruppe/Gruppo di Tessa to the wonderful Spronser Lakes/Laghi di Sopranes.

The lake plateau counts several lakes, which together have a surface area of 30 hectares. The lakes are each different in colour depending on the type of subsoil and reflective surroundings; they lie within an ice-age basin in hollows at heights between 2100 and 2589 metres. The Kasersee, Pfitscher Lacke, Mückenlacke, Grünsee, Langsee, Schwarzsee, Schiefersee, Milchsee and Kesselsee are like a sequence of glittering pearls in the heart of the Naturpark Texelgruppe/Parco Naturale Gruppo di Tessa. A natural spectacle you will never forget!

The largest lake is the Langsee (2377 m); it is 1000 metres in length, and 300 in width, with a depth of up to 35 metres. These lakes play an important role in supplying water to Meran/Merano and its surrounding region, but fist of all they are an unforgettably beautiful wonder of nature.

Choose from a variety of ascents and distinctive viewpoints over the entire lake plateau. Dip your toes in the water and let your spirits calm. Once you have climbed these heights and marvelled at the play of light on these lakes you will never again escape their spell.
